Just as unique will be the two international stars who will be at the start of the uphill race that will take the competitors from the center of Courmayeur to the panoramic terrace of Punta Helbronner. On Saturday, August 3rd, Kilian Jornet will be on the starting grid, an icon of the mountains and great feats, ski mountaineer and mountain running athlete who has won the Skyrunner World Series eight times. And at his side there will be his partner Emilie Forsberg, a Swede and another protagonist of ski mountaineering and trails.
In the women's race there will also be Lisa Borzani, who will try to get in the best condition in view of the tenth anniversary of the Tor des Géants, while in the men's race the Aosta Valley Nadir Maguet is expected who will attempt a close challenge with Jornet. Among the Austrians, Finns, French, British, Norwegians, Dutch, Poles, Spaniards, Americans, Swiss and Ukrainians there will also be the Alpine troops of the Army Sports Center, Daniel and Robert Antonioli and Denis Trento. And then again Chiara Giovando, Erika Forni, Davide Cheraz, Erik Bochicchio, Julien Chorier, as well as Giovanni Bosio and Ilaria Veronese who are fighting for success in the VK3000 circuit.
The queen race will be anticipated, as per tradition, by the K1000 which will take place on Friday evening (2 August) and which will arrive at the Pavillon. A night challenge that will involve about a hundred competitors. There will also be Davide Cheraz, Mattia Luboz, Gloriana Pellissier and the ski mountaineer Giulia Murada.
Also on Friday, children will also be involved. At 11 a.m. in the Pavillon area, a non-competitive race will be organized that will run along the Saussurea Botanical Garden and will be open to young people between 8 and 15 years old. Registrations (cost 15 euros) can be made on Friday morning at the departure of the Skyway cable car.
The program of the Uyn vertical Courmayeur Skyway is long and very articulated. In addition to the two adult races, which will start at 9 p.m. on Friday (K1000) and at 7.30 a.m. on Saturday (K2000), there will be some meetings dedicated to those who love sports and the mountains. On Friday, at 6 p.m., at the Jardin de l'Ange, a comparison with today's and yesterday's trailers, in the presence of Bruno Brunod, Ettore Champretavy, Milena Béthaz and Francesca Canepa. GRAN PARADISO TRAIL
After the vertical in Courmayeur – a test included within the Défi – the Aosta Valley circuits take a break until Saturday 24 August, when the Gran Paradiso Raidlight trail will return. There are two distances: a 26-kilometre trail and a 45-kilometre ultra, both starting and finishing in Dégioz di Valsavarenche. Registrations are open on the Wedosport website with a fee of 45 euros for the ultra, 80 euros for the ultra in pairs, 30 euros for the trail. Discounted fee of 20 euros for minors 15-17 years old.
